Elevators and Stairs…they’re complicated

Here’s an actual conversation that took place (in Chinese) last Summer but I don’t think I’ve shared it yet.

Apartment Complex Worker: Is your elevator working yet?
Me: Could you say that again?
Apartment Complex Worker: Is your elevator working yet?
Me: Our electricity?  Oh, our electricy is fine. It’s our water that has the problem. We have no water.
Apartment Complex Worker: You have no water?
Me: No
Apartment Complex Worker: You should call the office.
Me: My husband called the office
Apartment Complex Worker: Is your elevator working?
Me: What?…
Apartment Complex Worker: In the past your elevator wasn’t stopping at your floor, you had to walk the stairs up or down a flight to call the elevator.
Me: Oh! Elevator! Yes, our elevator is working now. Thank you!

This was the "line" for the elevators at local hospital. I took the stairs. . .
